Ruth Burns With the Lord

Posted by Terry White on May 22, 2009

Word has been received of the homegoing Thursday evening of Ruth Burns, 84, wife of retired Grace Brethren Pastor Ralph Burns. In retirement the couple has lived at Grace Village Retirement Center in Winona Lake, Indiana, where Ralph served as chaplain for a number of years.

The Burnses had been in an automobile accident on Wednesday, but they had been thoroughly checked out with no apparent injuries. Ruth died peacefully between 8 and 9 p.m. Thursday.

Arrangements will be shared as soon as they are known.

Ruth will be greatly missed! She was the perfect complement to Ralph! I knew them well when I attended WLGBC in the 1990’s. Ralph led council time at Awanas and always had a neat devotional to share. Ruth was always such an encourager, and you could see that they loved each other as Christ loved the church! Ralph and Ruth did an excellent job of raising their kids! Ron and Becky have followed in their mom and dad’s footsteps of being what God truly wants us to be as his children!

Within 3 months, three of the most influential GBC ladies in our community have met their Savior personally and are greatly missed. Those ladies are Dorothy Goodman, Ruth Snyder, and now Ruth Burns!

I heard an ambulance going by the house at 8:30ish last night. That was probably the time that Ruth was meeting Jesus face to face and being told “Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant”.
