Tony Webb to Go Full-Time With Vision Ohio

Posted by Terry White on February 2, 2010  |  1 Comment

VisionOhio (VO) is pleased to announce that Dr. Tony Webb (pictured) has become the second full-time staff person with VisionOhio on February 1, 2010, after enjoying nearly nineteen years pastoring Southwest Grace in Grove City, Ohio. VisionOhio is an Ohio Grace Brethren church planting group seeking recognition as a full cooperating organization by the FGBC at the national conference this summer.

Dr. Webb will continue to give oversight, to recruit church planters and to coach, but a unique twist is that he will personally engage in church planting. Tony and Cathy are asking God for one or two more new churches in the greater Central Ohio area and have recently initiated a new church in North Columbus. Tony and Cathy believe they can work on two or three new churches at a time using a cost-effective Gatherer/Shepherd/Elder process.

The Gatherer’s work is to reach out and draw people to the new group; as the group’s Shepherd, Tony will take care of the group until such time when the Lord of the Harvest raises up an Elder to lead the group into greater definition and growth. Having worked with VO for over four years, Dr. Webb has been the director of VO the past two years in a part-time capacity. This full-time status is an unfunded position and, like VO Senior Missionary Ron Boehm, Tony will be raising support to carry on  this church planting effort.

Please take a moment to pray, asking God  for a `church a day’ (Acts 16:5) in Ohio among those churches that preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. The need for new churches is overwhelming, the harvest is ready, the workers are few. For more information related to church planting in Ohio, please go to www.visionohio.org.

Billy Sunday Collection Relocating To Reneker Museum

Staff Report

WINONA LAKE, IN - Grace College and Theological Seminary announced Thursday that the Billy Sunday Visitor’s Center collection will move to a new home in the Reneker Museum of Winona History, located in Westminster Hall of Grace College.

The building that previously housed the visitor’s center will be occupied by The Remnant Trust, a public educational foundation that archives and preserves rare historical documents. This collection of antiquities is loaned to colleges, universities, and other institutions for display and research by students, faculty, scholars and the general public.

These archives include significant works, including some of the first copies of the Magna Carta, early printings of the United States Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, and one of only two existing copies of the ancient Book of Enoch. The Remnant Trust collections will be on public display at select times at Grace and will tour other universities around the country.

Dr. Ron Manahan, president of Grace College and Theological Seminary, said, “We’re thrilled to welcome The Remnant Trust to our community. This organization continues to protect original and first-edition historical documents while making them accessible for research and review. Grace is also proud to continue honoring Billy Sunday’s memory by giving the visitor’s center collection a new home within the Reneker Museum, one that will allow the museum to provide a more complete picture of Winona history.”

Dr. Dane A. Miller, founder and board member of Biomet Inc., serves on the board of directors for The Remnant Trust and echoed Dr. Manahan’s comments.

“I am delighted to bring our archives to Winona Lake and look forward to making a significant contribution to the community and the college with our presence,” said Miller.

Grace expects to reopen the Billy Sunday exhibit by May, and will also continue to provide scheduled tours of the nearby Billy Sunday home, which is still furnished exactly as Sunday’s widow, Helen “Ma” Sunday, left it.

The Remnant Trust plans to complete its move to Winona Lake by September.
